So it was recently the 6 year anniversary of when I left behind my friends, family and home I had known all my life and as a pretty naïve 19 year old jetted off to Florida U.S.A to become a member of the Walt Disney World Cast. So I don't think I can cover everything about my time there, after all it was a whole year of my life, so if you guys want more posts about this then let me know!

So I've decided this post is going to focus on what I learnt in those first few weeks about living away from everything I'd ever known.

They speak English it will be pretty much be the same right?

So as I said before I was pretty naïve, I'd been to America on holiday a few times in my life before I made the move plus I'd seen The OC so I was pretty much an American life expert right? WRONG! No matter what country you move to whether they speak the same language or not, it's always going to be a major adjustment and a bit of a culture shock. I wish I'd been more prepared for this, slowly finding out I was along way from home was a pretty scary experience, even the bread tastes different! I have memories of standing in the supermarket reading every brand of bread labels to find the one with lowest amount of sugar so it would taste more like home! I found it really strange that some people didn't understand what I was saying, how loud and confident everyone seemed and even the money was confusing to me it took some getting used to but I soon adapted and changed the way I said Tomato which made ordering a pizza a lot easier. I learnt from all this though and when I made the move to Australia it was a much easier transition.

New Family

Moving to a country where you know absolutely no one can be extremely daunting, me being me I hadn't even really thought about how weird this was. Luckily for me at Disney a group of all started at the same time, its strange how quickly you bond with people in this situation. By the end of the first week that group had become my family, we were so close to look at us from the outside you would have thought we'd known each other for years not a week. It's actually really comforting to think about how much as humans we adapt and learn quickly to create a support group around ourselves.

In those first moments, don't cry

So when I stepped off the plane and had to find my way on my own for the first time was scary, only to be made scarier by being pulled aside because they didn't recognise my visa. I was then put in a scary room with a guy who looked like Captain America luckily it was all fine and I got through, I was strong and just kept thinking don't cry, don't cry. After this ordeal was over I went to collect my bag...ah another issue this suitcase was the size of me, getting it off the belt was a mission, I tried, struggled, yelped and no one came to my aid, I was going to have to brave and ask someone...no one was around...ah this was embarrassing I was going to have to yell at someone from a far. Yeah that happened then I had to try and find the taxi service I needed another mission and probably long and boring story but the key thing is I didn't cry. I know that's a weird thing to be proud of, but in that moment as a scared 19 year old all I wanted was my Mum but I was brave and got through it. So in those scary first moments be strong and it will give you a sense that you can handle anything.

I could go on and on I might make my move to America and on going thing and focus on different aspects such as making friends, meeting my boyfriend, what it's like to work for Disney etc. Let me know if this is something you're interested in.

Monthly Movies

Cinderella - Wow this is all out Disney magic, lets just say you can definitely tell Kenneth Branagh directed this. It's unashamedly over the top and is quite frankly a little girls dream. Now I know what you're thinking is there anything for us adults? Well I may not be the best person to ask as I am a big kid myself however I went with a group of friends to see this and everyone seemed impressed. If nothing else it has to be seen just for the costumes! Oh and Richard Madden of course...those eyes though.

While we're young - So this film is all about a married couple in there 40s who befriend a married couple in their twenties, it starts off mainly focusing on their relationship and how the friendship inspires them. It then takes a turn and becomes very much about Ben Stiller's character and his relationship with his work. Its a good watch and is definitely more of a serious turn for Ben Stiller don't go in expecting Zoolander 2 (omg so excited) It almost has an indie film vibe to it and is very much a film about life, it touches on getting old, success, marriage and career struggles. Again we went to see this in a group and everyone seemed to enjoy it, I didn't feel like it was ground-breaking but there were amusing moments and I definitely went along for the ride.

Avengers: Age of Ultron - Wow did Joss Whedon have a pretty epic task trying to follow the last Avengers movie?! Which lets face it was pretty flawless. Trust me you wont be disappointed with this action packed follow up. I'm not going to go into too much detail as I could be rambling on and on, but this movie has everything you need. I must say it does feel far darker than the first instalment and has less light relief with Captain Americas 'man out of time' comedy gone, after all he's been living in the present day for a while now. I loved the new additions in the way of Aaron Taylor Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen as Quicksilver and Scarlet witch who are both pretty bad ass, die hards will know they are in fact supposed to be mutants however Marvel don't actually hold the movie rights for X-men, but their back story doesn't suffer because of this. In true Whedon style this movie will appeal to all the die hard comic fans and regular movie go-ers alike, so grab your popcorn and go because this is a movie that deserves the big screen experience.

Charlie Simpson - Long Road Home (Deluxe Edition)

All this month I've been listening to this album, it's one those beauties that pretty much every song is a winner. I'm not going to lie I hadn't really heard much of Charlie Simpsons stuff before, but a friend recommended this album and I'm so glad she did because its a great listen! My personal favourite tracks are Comets, blood, ten more days and Haunted. Give it a go, you wont be disappointed.

Monthly Make Up

Bourjois 123 CC cream - Now it's spring I've been preferring a lighter base and this works like a dream for those good skin days when I'm going for a no make up, make up look. This beautiful evens out my complexion and is so light and breathable plus it's super hydrating for us dry skinned girls. I usually add concealer and a bit of powder to beef this up a bit.

30 Rock - When ever I talk about this show, no one has ever watched it! To be fair its pretty famous for low ratings however is extremely critically acclaimed with

The legend that is Tina fey writes and stars in this, if you are not familiar with her (have you been living under a rock?) she wrote Mean Girls so if that's your kind of comedy then you will love this. They say write what you know and being one of the writers for SNL for many years has obviously been an inspiration for Tina. 30 Rock is all about the running of a 'SNL' type T.V show I'm not going to lie it's kind of a hard premise to explain. Just trust me when I say you will love it!

Dates

I've been addicted to dates this month, they're the perfect substitute for sweets and chocolate! They are still high in sugar but at least it's natural sugar and not artificial.

Monthly Memories

This month I've definitely been tested at college, we're coming up to the end of the year and exams are in full swing! I'm finally starting to feel like everything is clicking which is definitely helping with my confidence. I'm worrying a lot less which has given me the opportunity to enjoy floristry for what it is.

I've also celebrated my friends birthday this April and we were lucky enough to get our close group of friends together for a day at the zoo, which was a great break from course work and the weather was beeeeautiful!

This month has definitely been about getting outdoors as the weather has been so great. One of my highlights was a three hour walk my boyfriend and I went on, it showed me how I really need to appreciate the area I live in as it is so picturesque.

Another highlight was just embracing the inner child and making a den, just for...well the hell of it!

Of course my Guinea Pigs have been a constant source of entertainment and this month they have now decided to become skilled climbers, which always puts a smile on my face!

Overall its been a pretty great month with work and play balanced nicely and bloody gorgeous weather! Yes Spring yes...

Hard Question! Probably L'Oreal Super Liner Perfect Slim just because it never lets me down and is super fool proof.

My boyfriend, friends and Guinea Pigs because they are all the best and never fail to make me laugh.

Winter for sure! Coats, snow, mulled cider, Christmas, winter markets and jumpers! OH YES!

Anything Mexican or TEX MEX!

Another hard one...there's a few Romania, Norway and Fiji.

12 Things I've learnt about being 25

My best friend turned the big 2-5 yesterday and it got me thinking how much of a leap we make in the years from 18 - 25, how much we grow, learn and change in this age gap. When I was 18 I was living with my parents in a small village, studying Performing arts at college, was dating a silly boy and getting ridiculously drunk every week at my favourite Rock night in town OH YES I was cool.... I'd like to think my life has changed a lot since then so I thought I would share with you a few things I've learnt along the way.

1. You got a Friend in me

So this has been a hard lesson that I have had to learn, Friendship is a two way street. I firmly believe in those friends that you don't see for a year and then you see each other and it's like no time has passed. However with most friends you have to make an effort, whilst travelling I was bad at keeping in contact with people and I really regret this and try to live by this saying 'to have a friend you have to be a friend'.

2. Finding Happiness anywhere

By now you've probably learnt to get that job that doesn't feel like a job is going to be an up hill struggle but you will get there eventually! For now if you hate your job make sure you choose people who make you happy and do creative and interesting things on the weekend.

3. FOMO

Fear of missing out seems to have become a real issue over the past few years with the rise of social media. If you suffer from this, first off remember everyone has bad and boring days but do you choose to share them on social media? Probably not, so those people you're jealous of probably don't either. Secondly be happy for other peoples successes, most likely they have worked really hard for their opportunities so throw away the jealousy and show the love! Next the most simple thing to do is just switch off from your devices for a while and get back to reality and stop focusing on what everyone else is doing and just enjoy what you're up to.

4. Love and Marriage

Ok so this year I've already been to a friends wedding, another's engagement and there's another wedding lined up in August, embrace this first wave of marriages. Ok I'll admit it...weddings are really fun! It's a chance to dress fabulously, eat lots of food, get merry, see two of your friends in the most heart warming spectacle ever, have a boogie and be in room full of all your friends for the whole day! 25 means something different to everyone, should you be getting married? only if you want to, just remember this isn't a day to feel bad about yourself its a day to celebrate your friends love and you're going to have an awesome time!

5. Have Courage and be kind

Ok so that's a quote from Cinderella but it's a good one to live by. So now you're 25 it's fair to say you've probably been through a fair share of Mean Girls type experiences. Hopefully you've learnt from these and have now come to the conclusion that you're going to rise above this silliness, obviously your human and you'll have the occasional bitch but by now you've learnt the value of treat others how you would like to be treated.

6. Inbetweener

So being 25 is kind of a weird place to be because you're in between adolescence and serious adulthood. Embrace this weird 'Not a girl, not yet a woman' time after all you have known success and failure, your wise enough to give advice but also young enough to ignore it, you have known death but still think you will live forever. Enjoy the fact that you're pretty much a walking contradiction after all you're old enough to rent a car and flat but it doesn't stop you shamelessly still needing your mum when you're ill. You're also at a guilt free age where it is totally ok to change what you want out of life whether you want to change your job or where you live, you now have the chance to make these changes without being too tied down yet.

7. You are now a hangover Graduate

By 25 I like to think that I know my limit (with the occasional mistake *cough* every New Year *cough) This is the perfect age where you suddenly learn how much you can handle and how much you need to have a merry old time without being out of action for 2 days! Yes at 25 hangovers are that bad... I have a theory there is some magical change that happens when you turn 21 that means you can no longer cope with hangovers...it's weird.

8. Staying in is fun but so are Happy hours

You are that age where it is perfectly acceptable to love a night in with Netflix and chocolate OH YES. However we all know going out is still fun, my tip? Happy hours are your friend they are cheap and early meaning you can have drinks with friends, save money and still be home by 9:30 for work tomorrow. Fun, social and sorted.

9. Don't be afraid to be your own cheerleader

I've found this especially to be true when it comes to the work environment. If you're a hard worker and always give your all at work don't be afraid to show this attitude. In order to get ahead sometimes you have to put yourself out there and show your passion, no one else is going to be your champion so be your own.

10. Being Beyoncé

By now you've probably learnt that confidence is key, at 25 personally I'm not quite there yet. However I'm learning, after all if you don't have it just fake it...easier said than done but just by putting yourself out there is the first step. By 25 you've realised that confidence is sexy and also helps you feel comfortable in yourself and gooood, if you're there, congratulations! Maybe I'll get there by 30!

11. Money, Money, Money

25 is this weird age where you're old enough to pay rent but still young enough to forget to do so...oops. I'm trying to live by what I learnt from friends "where does 10% of your pay check go?", "in the bank", yeah I'm not the best. It's an age where you're trying to get your finances in order, you get a credit card to build your credit score because you never know you might want to buy a house one day?! However you're still young enough to think that the new Chanel eye shadow palette is a necessity. Embrace this confusing money contradiction, just be thankful you've started thinking about getting your finances in order and enjoy the time when that eye shadow palette is even an option.

12. Lets all go to Neverland!

So lastly don't freak out about turning 25 and aging in general, why bother? There's nothing you can do to change the aging process so just get over it, once you let go of the fear you will feel so free! Plus if there is anything I have learnt from my 80 year old Nan you are only as young as you feel, age is just a number not a state of mind.

I don't pretend to be some kind of life coach and many of these points may be completely different to how you feel, but that's what's great about being human we are all different. If you take one thing away from this post let it be have courage and be kind.
